Week #38 – Forever Country

Since these are exciting times with the single coming up, I decided to give you a diary-post! A very music-centered week this has been. I chose the title ‘Forever Country’ because of the very cheesy but lovely video that came out on Wednesday with many of today’s country heroes. Anyhow, lets rewind to Monday.

On Monday Country Music NL published a very, VERY nice article about me and my music! They usually only cover the American country scene so I was very happy to be included. You can read the dutch article here.

Also, YouTube Covers tweeted about my Kelsea Ballerini cover of ‘Secondhand Smoke’. Did you see that one yet? You can watch it here!

On Tuesday Radio1 sent me a message if I was interested in working with them on a new segment where I would have to write a song about something that’s been on the news and take them through the songwriting process. So I went through the news a little a found an article about how drinking beer makes people more social – I’ve always wanted to write a song about drinking!

Today Radio1 came by for the songwriting-segement! We had a nice chat, went through some of my old voice memos (my songwriting is mostly voicememo’s). In this interview you can hear the first song I ever finished at 16 (We Made It), you can hear the first voice memo of ‘Getting To Know You’ and you can hear the final version of ‘Getting To Know You’ which will be available on Spotify TOMORROW! Today was the day I had been rehearsing for three nights this week: Amsterdam Nashville Festival! The first edition! It was a blast being back on stage again with the band AND Leif on pedal steel. Wasn’t the best we’ve ever played, but it was a good time.

After the previously mentioned Radio1 segment was aired between 5-7AM (when I was sound asleep after dancing my ass off at Nashville festival) me and Dave played another radio gig at KRO-NRCV called ‘Schoolcast’. We played three songs: Back to Barcelona, Sweeter Than This and Getting to Know You. You can listen to the whole show here: https://soundcloud.com/kroncrvradioschool/schoolcast-20160925-uur-2

So, that was that! Tomorrow ‘Getting To Know You’ will be available online and I hope people love it!
